RedHawks Show Out at Tennesee Relays

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- The Miami University track and field team had an impressive showing at the Tennessee Relays this weekend.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • On the field, in the men's hammer event, Ryan Smith finished in second place with 54.58 meters. Smith finished in fourth place in the discus throw with 48.66m. Smith also finished in third place in the javelin throw with 53.39m. In the men's shot put, Smith (16.23m) and Ben Riegel (15.83m) finished in fifth and sixth place, respectively.
  • In the men's 400m hurdles, Jacob Ranker finished in fourth place with a time of 53.39 and Eman Alfred finished in seventh place with a time of 55.36. In the men's 4x100 meter relay, the team consisting of Leo Bouldin, Remy Schulz, Ranker, and Julian Wagner finished in third place with a time of 42.19 seconds! In the men's 100m dash, Wagner finished in fifth place with a time of 10.88 seconds. In the men's 400m dash, Sam Pearl finished in third place with a time of 49.20 seconds.
  • On the field, Santornya Ralliford finished in second place in the shot put event with 41.83m. Elle Miller finished in eleventh place in the long jump with 5.70m. Allie Melchiorre finished in eighth place in the javelin throw with 35.37m. Taylor Manley finished in eighth place with 11.55m. Ella Rigel finished in fourth place in the women's hammer event with 53.76m, setting a new PR.
  • In the women's 400m hurdles, Gabby Cossio finished in eighth place with a time of 1:05.14 and Sydney Harmon finished in tenth place with a time of 1:06.55. In the women's 100m dash, Ella Scally finished in eleventh place with a time of 12.42 seconds. Abby Suszek finished in seventh place in the women's 400m dash with a time of 56.49 seconds.
  • In the women's Heptathlon, Kayla Walters finished in fifth place in the women's 100m hurdles with 14.96 seconds. Lisa Froberg finished sixth in the high jump with 1.53m. Froberg also finished in fourth in the shot put event with 10.27m. In the 200m dash, Walters (26.79 seconds) and Froberg (26.97 seconds) finished in eighth and ninth place, respectively. Walters finished in fifth in the long jump event with 5.20m. Froberg finished in fourth in the javelin throw event with 27.16m, a new PR! Froberg finished the Heptathlon by coming in third in the 800m with a time of 2:32.32.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
The RedHawks are traveling across the country next week to California to compete in two different meets. The Bryan Clay Invitational is in Azusa, Calif., and takes place April 12-14. The second meet is the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., and runs April 13-15.
