Box Score YPSILANTI, Mich. — The Miami University baseball team took game two of three against Eastern Michigan with a final score of 21-2 Saturday. The RedHawks move their season record to 9-23 (6-8 MAC). The Eagles are now 12-15 (4-10 MAC).
The RedHawks got on the board quickly with an explosion of offense in the second inning and never looked back. Between the offense and dominant pitching, the RedHawks' performance propelled them to their second victory in a row. Miami scored 21 runs in a game for the first time since Feb. 27, 2021.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Evan Appelwick led off the second inning with a single to center field. Zach MacDonald followed by reaching base via walk. David Novak reached base after being hit by pitch to load the bases. With nowhere to go, Appelwick was pushed across home plate after Nate Stone received the second walk of the inning. Dillon Baker flew out to left field to score MacDonald. Brian Zapp followed up with a single to right field to drive in two. Cooper Weiss completed the inning with a two-run shot to left center, giving the RedHawks a 6-0 lead over the Eagles after two innings of work.

In the third inning, the RedHawks kept the momentum going with a double to left field by MacDonald. with two outs in the inning, Benji Brokemond reached base courtesy of a fielding error. MacDonald scored from third. Baker followed up with a single through the left side. Zapp reached base via walk to load the bases. Weiss answered with a single to bring in another run. With the bases still loaded, Ryland Zaborowski brought everyone home with a grand-slam to left center. Appelwick kept it going with a single to left field. MacDonald reached base via walk. Novak singled to left field to drive the last run of the inning home, making it 13-0 RedHawks.

In the fourth inning, Brokemond and Baker reached base with back-to-back walks. Weiss doubled down the left field line to score Brokemond and advance Baker to third. Zaborowski followed up with a ground out to score Baker. Appelwick reached base via walk. MacDonald answered with a single through the left side to tack on the RedHawks' final run of the inning, making it 16-0.

The fifth inning was led off by a single to right field by Stone. Brokemond followed up with a double to right center. Baker reached base via walk to load the bases for Weiss. Weiss reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Stone and making it 17-0 RedHawks.

The Eagles got on the board in the fifth inning courtesy of a solo home run to left field, making it 17-1 RedHawks.

In the top of the eighth, Stephen Krause reached base after being hit by a pitch. Appelwick quickly answered with a two-run home run to left field, giving the RedHawks a 19-1 lead.

Cristian Tejada led off the ninth inning with a walk. Baker singled to shortstop. After runners advanced to second and third by a wild pitch, Dom Magliocca flew out to right field to score Tejada. Blake Buzzeo followed up with a single to left field to score Baker and make it 21-1 RedHawks.

The Eagles mustered a run in the bottom of the ninth, but the RedHawks came out victorious with their second win in a row with a final score of 21-2.

Zaborowski was 2-for-5 with a home run and five RBI. He recorded his 12th home run of the season.
