HOW IT HAPPENED
- Miami took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Evan Appelwick walked to start the inning, followed by a Brian Zapp bunt single. Dom Magliocca pinch ran for Zapp and eventually came around to score the game's first run on an RBI single by Benji Brokemond.
- CMU responded with a solo homer in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 1.
- The Chippewas added a run in the fifth and three in the sixth to take a 5-1 lead.
- The RedHawks cut the deficit in half in the top of the eighth. After back-to-back singles from Cooper Weiss and Ryland Zaborowski, David Novak drove in Miami's second run of the game with a groundout to third, scoring Weiss. Appelwick's two -out single down the left-field line brought Zaborowski in and pulled Miami within 5-3.
- Central Michigan closed the scoring with a solo home run to right center in the bottom of the eighth, accounting for the 6-3 final score.
NOTES
- Zaborowski and Brokemond each had two hits for the RedHawks.
- Appelwick finished 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI.
