LAKE PLACID, N.Y.—An elegant free skate on Saturday night to their Ode to Joy program capped off an exciting stint for the Miami University senior synchronized skating team at the 2023 ISU World Championships in Lake Placid, New York. One of two teams representing the United States among a 23-team field of the best synchronized skating teams across the globe, the RedHawks finished with a combined score of 209.94 to place sixth in the world in front of a robust U.S. fan base.

- This is the fourth time in its 14 world championship appearances Miami has finished among the top six and ties its best finish since placing second at the 2007 world championships. The 2007 team was the first U.S. team to medal at a world synchronized skating championship, and it remains the highest finish by a U.S. synchronized skating team at the event. The RedHawks' other top-six finishes were a sixth-place finish in 2022 and 2006 when they placed fourth at the world championships.
- Skating 19th of the 23 teams, Miami amassed a score of 139.87 for its free skate, earning a technical element score of 72.40 and a program component score of 68.47.
- The RedHawks' combined score of 209.94 marked the fifth time this season they have cracked the 200-point mark and was their best international score of the season.
- The RedHawks finished nearly 15 points ahead of seventh-place Team Passion (195.12) of Hungary. Miami trailed the fifth-place Haydenettes (218.32), also representing the U.S., by just over eight points.
- Canada's Les Supremes won the event with a score of 240.98, while Finland's Helsinki Rockettes (239.56) and Unique (237.68) finished second and third, respectively. Canada's Nexxice placed fourth with a score of 228.08.
