RedHawks Fall Short in Season Finale Against BSU, 77-68

OXFORD, Ohio – Despite 25 points from Ivy Wolf, the Miami University women's basketball team dropped a 77-68 decision to the Ball State Cardinals on Saturday afternoon. Miami (12-19, 7-11 MAC) trailed 53-38 late in the third, only to storm back to take a 61-60 lead, but faltered in the final minutes to the Cardinals (24-7, 14-4 MAC).

Maddi Cluse recorded her 11th double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds and Amani Freeman had 12 points and eight boards.

How it Happened:
  • Despite the lightning-quick pace, both offenses started slow with BSU leading 8-6 at the first media timeout. Ball State's offense found some rhythm as the Cardinals shot 11-of-17 in the first 10 minutes and led 23-15.
  • The Cardinals stretched their advantage to 34-21 midway through the second. Miami closed the final 4:36 of the half on a 9-0 run, capped by a layup from Amani Freeman and a three-point play from Sierra Morrow to send both team to the locker room with BSU leading 34-30.
  • Ball State began the second half a perfect 4-of-4 from behind the arc and 6-of-7 from the floor to garner a 53-38 advantage with 2:45 remaining in the third. Cluse and Katey Richason each connected on triples as the RedHawks finished the quarter on an 8-2 run, but trailed 56-46 with 10 minutes to play.
  • A Scott triple from the corner capped a Miami 7-0 run to begin the fourth, forcing a Ball State timeout as the RedHawks trailed 56-53 with 6:53 to play. Wolf's layup made it 56-55 and two minutes later, Wolf scored four-straight to give Miami a 61-60 lead (first lead since 2-0). Ball State scored on its next two possessions to take the lead for good.
