ON TAP: The Miami University women's basketball team hosts Ball State on Saturday, March 4. Opening tip is slated for 1 p.m.
MIAMI'S BIG-3: The RedHawks have three of the top-10 scorers in the MAC, highlighted by
Ivy Wolf (16.7, 6th),
Peyton Scott (15.7, 9th) and
Maddi Cluse (15.0, 10th). Combined, the trio scores on average 47 of Miami's 70 points per contest. On Wednesday, the trip combined for 60 in the win at Ohio and had 66 back on Feb. 22 in the win over NIU.
TOE THE LINE: No one gets to the free throw line more in the Mid-American Conference than the RedHawks. Through 30 games, Miami has attempted 564 (18.8/game) free throws this season. Not only do the RedHawks get to the line ... they make them count. As a team, Miami is third in the conference in free throw percentage (76.6%). Individually,
Ivy Wolf ranks first in the MAC (90.4%) and
Peyton Scott is sixth (85.2%).
WHAT'S ON THE LINE?: With just one game remaining in the MAC regular season, Miami can finish anywhere from fifth to 10th in the conference standings (top-8 advance to Cleveland). A Miami win, combined with an NIU and Akron loss would place the RedHawks fifth, but a loss by Miami would put a trip to Cleveland in question.
SENIOR MOMENT: Prior to Saturday's game, Miami will honor four seniors:
Peyton Scott,
Amani Freeman,
Jordan Tuff and
Taylor Boruff.
ABOUT BALL STATE: Ball State is 23-7 overall and 13-4 in conference play, but have dropped two straight to Toledo and Bowling Green. Offensively, the Cardinals rank second in the MAC with a scoring average of 77.7 and are led by Anna Clephane (14.9) and Thelma Dis Agustsdottir (12.5).
SERIES WITH CARDINALS: This will be the 72nd meeting between the two schools, with Miami holding a 40-31 series advantage. Ball State has won the last five meetings and 12 of the last 13, dating back to the 2012-13 season.
ROUND TWO WITH BSU: These same two teams competed back on Jan. 14, with Ball State capturing a 92-61 decision in Muncie.
Ivy Wolf had a team-high 19 points.
Katey Richason added career-highs in points (13) and rebounds (10) for her first career double-double, while
Maddi Cluse added 13 points and
Peyton Scott chipped in with 12. Miami led 30-20 midway through the second quarter before a 17-0 run from the Cardinals gave BSU the lead for good.
OFFENSIVE IMPROVEMENT: Â Over the past five games Miami is averaging 80.2 points per contest. The RedHawks are shooting 49.7% from the floor, are out-rebounding their opponents by 7.0 boards/game and are averaging 17.5 assists and just 12.8 turnovers a game. During the five-game stretch the RedHawks have four (almost five) players averaging double figures:
Peyton Scott (20.0),
Maddi Cluse (18.8),
Ivy Wolf (13.8),
Amani Freeman (10.4) and
Sierra Morrow (9.2).
PAINT THE TOWN RED: Much of Miami offensive improvement is due to its production down low. Miami has scored 186 points in the paint combined over the past five contest. Miami had a season-high 52 points in the paint in the win over NIU.
NOW "BOARD"ING: The RedHawks rank just ninth in the MAC in rebounding (35.5 boards/game) but, have out-rebounded 11 of their last 16 opponents, including +14 in the win at Buffalo, +7 in the win at NIU and +13 on Wednesday at Ohio.
HUNGRY LIKE A WOLF: After an outstanding freshman campaign, where she averaged 12.6 points per contest, Â sophomore
Ivy Wolf has taken the next step in her career. Wolf is sixth in the MAC in scoring (16.7) and eighth in assists (3.7). She has scored at least 20 points in 10 games this year.

GETTING A CLUE: After an up and down freshman season, where
