ON TAP: The Miami University women's basketball team returns home to face the Western Michigan Broncos on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m.
MIAMI'S BIG-3: The RedHawks have three of the top-15 scorers in the MAC, highlighted by
Ivy Wolf (18.0, 3rd),
Peyton Scott (14.5, 12th) and
Maddi Cluse (14.1, 14th). Combined, the trio scores 47 of Miami's 69 points per contest.Â
TOE THE LINE: No one gets to the free throw line more in the Mid-American Conference than the RedHawks. Through 23 games, Miami has attempted 460 (20.0/game) free throws this season (Toledo is second at 431).
Maddi Cluse (99, 7th),
Ivy Wolf (96, 8th) and
Peyton Scott (93, 9th) all rank inside the top 10 in free throws attempted and when they get to the line they take advantage of it. Wolf is first in the MAC (and fifth nationally) in free throw percentage (92.7%).
Peyton Scott ranks fifth in the MAC at 83.9%.
ABOUT WESTERN MICHIGAN: Western Michigan enters Wednesday's contest at 10-11 overall and 5-5 in conference play. The Broncos snapped a three-game losing streak with a 76-71 victory over Akron last Saturday. The MAC's leading scorer, Lauren Ross (21.9/game), is out for the season with a knee injury and Taylor Williams is second on the team, averaging 15.2 points per game. She ranks third in the MAC at 9.3 rebounds/contest.
SERIES WITH THE BRONCOS: This will be the 72nd meeting between the two schools with Miami holding a slight 37-34 all-time advantage. Miami has won four of the past six meetings.Â
NOW "BOARD"ING: The RedHawks rank just ninth in the MAC in rebounding (35.4 boards/game) but, have out-rebounded six of their last nine opponents, including +9 on the boards in the win at NIU.Â
RICH GETTING RICHER: Helping turn the tide on the rebounding side is sophomore
Katey Richason. In her first 14 games, Richason had a total of 26 rebounds (1.9/game). Since then, the Zionsville, Ind., native has secured 46 boards in the past eight games (5.8/game), including 10 at Ball State and a career-best 12 versus Ohio.
HOME SWEET HOME: Miami is 7-5 at home this season and 1-10 away from Millett Hall. That lone road win was on Jan. 18 at NIU (74-69).
HUNGRY LIKE A WOLF: After an outstanding freshman campaign, where she averaged 12.6 points per contest, Â sophomore
Ivy Wolf has taken the next step in her career. Wolf is third in the MAC in scoring (18.0) and eighth in assists (3.6). She has scored at least 20 points in eight games this year and has also led Miami in scoring in nine of the last 12 contests.
GETTING A CLUE: After an up and down freshman season, where
Maddi Cluse averaged 6.5 points per contest, the second-year RedHawk seems to have things figured out in 2022-23. Cluse currently ranks 14th in the MAC with a 14.1 scoring average. She is also sixth in rebounding (7.6). The sophomore has seven double-doubles this season after recording just two her freshman campaign.
MAGICAL MILESTONES: The RedHawks have had several individual moments during the 2022-23 season:

Ivy Wolf scored her 500th career point, the third fastest in program history to do so.Â

Peyton Scott scored her 1,500th career point.Â

Maddi Cluse recorded the second triple-double in program history, registering 18 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in an 82-56 win over Bradley. The last triple-double for Miami was from Linda Mallender on Dec. 14, 1984.
• Dec. 17 --
Peyton Scott secured her 500th career rebound, becoming just one of three RedHawks in program history to score 1,500 points and record 500 career rebounds.Â
GREAT SCOTT: Senior guard
Peyton Scott has accomplished a ton since arriving in Oxford, all while maintaining a 3.78 grade-point average and majoring in sports leadership and management.
• Scott suffered an ACL tear on March 5, 2022 at Akron and returned to play on Nov. 21, 2022 against Western Kentucky.
• She has scored 1,731 points and ranks fourth all-time on Miami's scoring list and is currently the active leader in MAC career scoring.Â
• Scott was named to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Preseason Award Watch List.
• Two seasons ago, she scored 30-plus points in five different games, including 39 versus Ball State, a new Millett Hall record. She has surpassed 30-plus points six different times in her career.
• She has scored in double figures 88 times in her career and has surpassed 20 points 32 different times.
• Named second-team All-MAC the past two seasons and was on the MAC All-Freshman team in 2019-20.
• Scott has started 100 of 103 games in her career.
SHOOTING STARS: Miami is having its best season shooting under Coach Hendrix. As a team, Miami is shooting 42.1% from the floor (previous best was 40.3% in 2021-22) and 33.6% from behind the arc (previous best was 29.2% in 2021-22). Miami currently ranks fourth in the MAC as a team in three-point percentage.
