RedHawks Shut Out Loyola Chicago 2-0

MURRAY, Ky – On Sunday the Miami University softball team finished off Loyola University Chicago 2-0. It was Laurelai DePew in the circle for the RedHawks who secured the shutout win, pitching the entire game and earning two strikeouts. Miami is now 8-2 on the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The game remained scoreless through the first five innings while the pitchers of each team battled it out.
- In the bottom of the sixth inning Kate Kobayashi got it started for the RedHawks, hitting an RBI single where Karli Spaid scored, grabbing the 1-0 lead.
- Holly Blaska then hit a double, allowing Kobayashi to score on the RBI, increasing the lead, 2-0, which was the winning score for the RedHawks.
NOTES:
- DePew allowed zero extra base hits and only four hits.
- Kobayashi went 2-for-3 at the plate.
- Both Kobayashi and Blaska earned an RBI.
