Miami heads out for its final regular-season road series of the year with a weekend trip to Minnesota Duluth. The RedHawks (7-19-4, 2-15-3 NCHC) earned one point in the conference standings last weekend vs. then-No. 15 Omaha, losing the series finale in overtime. The Bulldogs (13-16-1, 8-12-0 NCHC) are coming off a split at then-No. 3 Denver, winning 6-5 on the road Saturday, and are receiving votes in the new USCHO.com poll.
Both games will be streamed on NCHC.tv, with puck drop set for 8 p.m. ET on Friday, Feb. 24 and 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25. Greg Waddell's radio broadcasts will air on WKBV 1490 AM (Richmond, Ind.) Friday and WMOH 1450 AM The Ticket (Hamilton, Ohio) Saturday.
UMD leads the all-time series 28-6-3. Miami is looking for just its second road win all time against the Bulldogs (1-15-2). The teams have not played yet this season; the RedHawks captured the most recent meeting (4-0 on Feb. 26, 2022 at home) and earned a shootout win in their last trip to Duluth (2-2 tie on Jan. 15, 2022).
Matthew Barbolini leads the RedHawks offensively with 10 goals and 22 total points. Barbolini has a team-high 12 assists, one ahead of Max Dukovac. John Waldron ranks second on the team in goals (nine) and points (14). Ludvig Persson is 7-15-4 between the pipes this season with an .893 save percentage and 3.52 GAA and is coming off a season-high 49 saves Saturday vs. Omaha.
Persson and head coach Chris Bergeron met with the media this week to preview the upcoming matchup against the Bulldogs.
