NEW CASTLE, Ind.– Former Miami University standout Heather (Cusick) Mygrant is one of 18 women named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame's 2024 Silver Anniversary Team, the IBHOF announced today. The recognition is based on outstanding accomplishments as a high school senior basketball player 25 years ago.
The Silver Anniversary Team includes 11 members named to the 1999 Indiana All-Star squad: Miss Basketball April (McDivitt) Schilling, Emily Butler, Jill Hartman Early, Jeanette Gray, Jenna Hayes Alspaugh, Kourtney Mennen, Kennitra Johnson, Dorcas Lawson, Kristen Lowry Lanier, Heather (Cusick) Mygrant and Amy Zercher. Seven other all-state players are included to recognize the top of Indiana's high school class of 1999.
Cusick scored 1,391 career points in high school, playing two years at Taylor and then two years at Kokomo. She received All-State recognition as a senior from the AP (honorable mention), ICGSA (second-team) and Louisville Courier-Journal (third-team). Cusick was a four-time Kokomo Tribune All-Area pick and a four-time All-Howard County honoree.
One of just two Miami women's basketball players to have her jersey retired, Cusick graduated as the only player in MAC history to eclipse 1,700 points, 500 assists, 400 rebounds, 300 steals and 200 three-pointers. Cusick was named MAC Player of the Year in 2002-03 and also was a Kodak/WBCA All-Region pick. She was the first four-time All-MAC selection in program history, earning first-team distinction in 2002 and 2003. Cusick also garnered the Leann Davidge Memorial Award in 2002-03 and was the Miami Female Athlete of the Year in 2001-02.
Cusick ranks first in Miami program history in career assists, third in steals, fourth in three-pointers made, fifth in points, fifth in field goals made and eighth in free throws made. Over four seasons, Cusick appeared in 116 contests—never missing a game—and made 113 consecutive starts. She led Miami to its first MAC East Division title in 2002-03 and was inducted into the Miami Athletics Hall of Fame in 2013. She went on to play professionally in the Netherlands (2003-04). Cusick owns a Bachelor's degree in Health and Sport Studies from Miami and a Master's degree in Counseling and Educational Psychology from Nevada.
