Miami Continues Strong Showing at Day Two of Miami Invitational

The Miami University swimming and diving teams continued to put on a strong showing at day two of the Miami Invitational on Friday, Dec. 2. The women held on to control of their first place lead and ended the day with 785 points. Indiana State currently holds second place (580.5) and Darthmouth is in third (558.5). The men's team holds third place with 560 points. Grand Canyon remains in first place (772 points) and Darthmouth finished day two in second place (621). 

How It Happened:
  • Finals for day two kicked off with the 200 medley relay, where the Miami A relay team of Madeline PadavicSara Lahrach-Sanchez, McKenzie Reid and Nicole Maier made a winning performance, earning a combined time of 1:38.58. The men's A relay team of Owen BlazerHenju Duvenhage, Gabriel Perseguin and Tegan Barrier landed in second with a combined time of 1:28.00.
  • Honor Brodie-Foy led Miami in the women's 100 butterfly, finishing in third with a time of 54.82. Duvenhage took first (46.98) and Perseguin (47.90) finished in second place for the men's team.
  • In the 400 IM, Maier took first with a time of 4:11.28. For the men's team, Nick Barrows finished in fifth with a team-high time of 4:01.87.
  • Greta Kolbeck picked up the top time of 1:47.83 in the women's 200 freestyle. The men's competition saw Uroš Djokovic picking up seventh place with a time of 1:39.57.
  • In the women's 100 breaststroke, Lahrach-Sanchez recorded a team-best third place finish (1:02.90).  Adrian Dulay led the men's team in fifth place with a time of 55.34.
  • Padavic took the top position in the women's 100 backstroke with a time of 53.25, followed by Angelina Cakuls in second (54.45). Blazer came in third for the men's team with a time of 48.67.
  • In the 800 freestyle relay, the women's relay A team of Kaylin Herbet, Maier, Kolbeck and Julia Waechter took a first place finish on a combined time of 7:17.70. The men's relay A team finished third, with a combined time of 6:36.37 from Djokovic, Ian Kmiliauskis, Bryce Menchhofer and Tegan Barrier.
  • Sydney Rice took first place and earned 249.00 points in the women's 1 meter dive. Mia Meinhardt also came in third place, totaling 259.15 points. Jackson Miller finished with 303.90 points to take fifth place in the men's 3 meter dive.

The Red and White conclude day three of competition on Saturday, Dec. 3. Preliminaries begin at 9 a.m., while finals are set for a 4 p.m. start.
