BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Miami University volleyball team lost in three sets to the University at Buffalo Friday evening at Alumni Arena. The Bulls won by a score of 25-19, 25-13, 25-19. Miami moves to 5-21 (1-13 MAC) on the season, while Buffalo improves to 21-5 (11-3 MAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Raegan Lantz got the Miami offense started in the first set after knocking down a kill to make the score 3-1 in favor of the Bulls. Buffalo looked to pull away at 8-4, but
Gentry Warrick recorded a block, and the Bulls followed this up with another attack error to bring the Red and White within two at 8-6. Buffalo eventually stretched their lead to 15-6 before Miami went on a 5-0 run to make the score 15-11.
Ellie Hanson knocked down three kills, and
Hayden Hicks served two aces to spark the run. The Red and White ultimately dropped the set 25-19.
The second set was tied at three apiece after Hanson put down a service ace and
Maggie McCrary had a kill. Buffalo followed this up by going on a 5-0 run to claim an 8-3 advantage. The Red and White held strong, trailing by three at 9-6 thanks to a pair of kills from Warrick and
Chelsea Williams. The Bulls went on to take the second set 25-13.
In the beginning of the third set,
Amyah Cooper and
Breannah Peterson combined for numerous kills to even the set at 4-4. The Bulls once again looked to build off of their momentum at 10-17, but Miami responded with an 8-4 run to come within three at 21-18. The Bulls maintained their lead into the end of the set to win 25-19.
GAME NOTES:
- Warrick led all RedHawks with three blocks.
- Hicks matched the game-high of two service aces.
