RedHawks Beat Bobcats 1-0 in MAC Semifinal

OXFORD, Ohio – The top-seeded Miami University field hockey team advanced to the Mid-American Conference Tournament championship game after defeating Ohio University 1-0 on Friday afternoon. This win pushes the RedHawks to 13-7 on the season and ends the Bobcats' season at 6-10.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first quarter of play was primarily held in the middle of the field. Neither team was able to scratch at the tie score, keeping it a 0-0 game through the end of the first.
  • The second quarter played similarly to the first, and at the half, the score was still tied 0-0. The RedHawks had five shots to the Bobcats' one.
  • By the end of the third quarter, each team had been awarded a penalty corner, but the score still remained 0-0.
  • Under five minutes into the final quarter, the RedHawks broke the tie score when Claudia Negrete Garcia scored on Miami's second penalty corner of the game. She was assisted by Carlie Servis and Madison Workman.
  • The RedHawks held their lead through the conclusion of the game to eliminate Ohio with a 1-0 win and advance to the MAC Tournament championship game.

UP NEXT: Miami will face the winner of Friday's second semifinal at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4 in Oxford as the RedHawks chase their sixth consecutive MAC Tournament title.
