Miami Set to Face Mercyhurst Friday and Sunday

Miami Hockey faces Mercyhurst this weekend in a non-conference home-and-home series, as the RedHawks welcome the Lakers to Oxford on Friday night and head to Erie, Pa. two days later. Miami is 4-7-1 (0-6-0 NCHC) after dropping a pair of games at then-No. 2 North Dakota last weekend. Mercyhurst comes in at 3-6-2 (2-2-2 AHA) and has split each of its last three series, including this past Saturday/Sunday at home vs. Air Force.
This weekend's games are set for Friday, Nov. 24 at 7:05 p.m. at Steve "Coach" Cady Arena and Sunday, Nov. 26 at 4 p.m. at Mercyhurst Ice Center. Friday's game will be broadcast on NCHC.tv with radio coverage streaming on MiamiRedHawks.com. Greg Waddell (play-by-play) and Drew Davis (analyst) have the call. Sunday's action airs on FloHockey.tv, with Waddell's radio broadcast airing on WMOH 1450 AM The Ticket (Hamilton, Ohio).
Miami leads the all-time series with Mercyhurst 2-1-0. The teams last met during the 2021-22 season, with the RedHawks winning 7-4 at Mercyhurst on Dec. 12, 2021 and the Lakers then prevailing in overtime at Cady Arena the next month (5-4 on Jan. 4, 2022).
Matthew Barbolini and PJ Fletcher each have five goals to lead the RedHawks. Barbolini has a team-high 14 points (5-9-14), while Fletcher (5-5-10) and John Waldron (3-7-10) have 10 apiece. Logan Neaton is 4-6-1 in net and owns a 3.34 GAA and .893 save percentage in 11 starts.
Head coach Chris Bergeron and junior defenseman Spencer Cox met with the media this week to preview the meetings with Mercyhurst.
