RedHawks Host Western Kentucky Saturday Afternoon

The Miami University women's basketball team hosts Western Kentucky on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 1 p.m. in its home opener of the 2023-24 season.

NEW BEGINNINGS: Saturday will be just the third game for head coach Glenn Box. Box was named the 10th head coach in Miami women's basketball history on May 8, 2023.

SEEING DOUBLE: Twin sisters, Jada and Jadyn Scott, transfers from Cincinnati, are filling up the box score on a nightly basis. The duo is combining for 24.0 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.

IN WITH THE NEW: Head Coach Glenn Box and his staff brought in eight new players for the 2023-24 campaign. Joining the RedHawks are four transfers and four freshmen, including one from Spain and two from Canada.

FRESHMEN IMPACT: Freshmen Amber Tretter and Maddy Huhn have found a way to quickly help the Red and White. In her collegiate debut, Tretter scored 10 points and added three rebounds. Versus ULM, Huhn had eight points and eight rebounds.

ABOUT WESTERN KENTUCKY: Western Kentucky is 3-1 on the season, which includes a 77-74 loss to Vanderbilt on Wednesday. The Hilltoppers are led by Acacia Hayes, who is averaging 16.5 points per game. Alexis Mead is second on the team with a scoring average of 12.0.

SERIES WITH WKU: Western Kentucky is 6-0 all-time in the series, including last season's 91-55 win over the RedHawks.

ULM RECAP: Jadyn Scott scored a career-high 23 points and added nine rebounds and four assists in a 78-62 loss to Louisiana at Monroe. Hennessey Luu-Brown added 12 points and five assists for Miami. ULM connected on 15-of-34 three pointers, while the RedHawks were just 3-of-18 from behind the arc. The Warhawks won the battle on the boards (41-31).

PAINT THE TOWN RED: After recording just four second-chance points and 20 points in the paint in the season-opening loss to Vermont, Miami flipped the script in game two. Versus the Warhawks, Miami had 13 second-chance points and 36 points in the paint.

KEEPING IT CLEAN: Despite the 0-2 start, Miami has committed just 25 turnovers (12.5/game) this season after averaging 15.9 giveaways per game last year.

NEW IMPACT: Miami's newcomers have dominated the box score this season in points (99 of 110/90%), rebounds (51 of 53/96%), field goals made (37 of 42/88%) and minutes played (354 of 400/89%).

TOP RETURNER: Junior Katey Richason entered the 2023-24 season as Miami's top returning scorer (3.9 points/game). After scoring in double-figures just three times in her first two seasons, Richason scored nine points at Vermont, battling foul trouble for most of the contest.

TO THE LIMIT: Through two games, Hennessey Luu-Brown has played 71 of 80 minutes as Miami's point guard. She scored six points in 32 minutes of action against Vermont and followed that up by playing 39 minutes at ULM, scoring 12 points and adding five assists.
