#2 Northwestern Hands RedHawks 3-0 Loss to End Season

EVANSTON, Ill. – On Friday afternoon the Miami University field hockey team's season ended in the first round of the NCAA tournament after falling to No. 2 Northwestern University 3-0. This brings Northwestern to 19-1 on the season and finishes the RedHawk season at 15-8.

- With under a minute remaining in the first quarter, Northwestern scored during a penalty corner to take a 1-0 lead that they held through the end of the first.
- The RedHawks had a stronger offensive attack in the second quarter but the first half ended with the Wildcats leading 1-0.
- With minutes remaining in the third quarter, Northwestern doubled their lead on a penalty corner to 2-0.
- They tacked on another goal with seconds remaining in the third to extend their lead to 3-0, which they held into the fourth quarter.
- The RedHawks were not able to come back from the deficit, and the Wildcats took the contest 3-0.
