Miami in Ninth After Day One at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The RedHawk golf team is in ninth place after rounds one and two of Purdue University's Boilermaker Invitational. Veteran Danny Fisher led Miami, shooting two over par in round one and two below par in round two.

- Fisher totaled eight birdies over the first two rounds, which put him in the top 20 players out of a field of 85.
- Matthew Mattioli shot back-to-back 72s, finishing two above par on the day. This included 30 pars over 36 holes.
- Morgan Blythe finished four over par for the day. He shot a 67 (five below par) in round one, marking the lowest single round score of his tenure at Miami.
- Cameron Pero shot a 72 in round one and a 75 in round two, finishing five above par on the day.
- Michael Weber shot a six above par over the first two rounds. He shot a 76 in round one and a 72 in round two.
- Sam West, who participated as an individual, shot a 78 in round one and a 74 in round two, finishing 10 above par.
- Miami's team score was four above par, putting them just six strokes out of the top three. The 15-team field includes seven teams which are ranked in the top 100 nationally; these are Illinois (9), Purdue (40), UNLV (54), VCU (79), Illinois State (84), Ball State (85), and Nebraska (87).
