OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University volleyball team fell in three sets to Bowling Green Tuesday night at Millett Hall. The visiting Falcons won by a score of 25-12, 25-13, 25-16. Miami moves to 5-16 (1-8 MAC) on the season, while BGSU improves to 9-11 (3-6 MAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The RedHawks scored the first point of the match when a Bowling Green attempted kill missed wide, but the Falcons rebounded to grab an early 11-2 lead. Despite a few nice plays from
Gentry Warrick and a pair of late
Ellie Hanson kills, BGSU finished off the first set 25-12.
The Falcons jumped out early again in the second set, forcing a Miami timeout at 7-1. BGSU went up double digits at 13-3, with the RedHawks trimming the lead slightly after an
Amyah Cooper kill and a whistle against the Falcons that made it 16-8.
Chelsea Williams put down a point to pull Miami within 22-12, but Bowling Green went on to a 25-13 set win.
Miami battled throughout the third set, trailing just 7-6 after a big-time dig by Williams. However, after five early ties, a nine-point run by the Falcons to go up 20-9 proved too much to overcome. The RedHawks responded with a 6-1 run of their own, but BGSU scored the final two points of the night to close the match with a 25-16 set victory.
GAME NOTES:
- Hayden Hicks led the RedHawks with 14 assists.
- Williams had a team-high eight kills.
- Margo Lawson recorded eight digs for Miami.
- Warrick finished the match with three blocks.
