LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Miami University field hockey team fell short on Sunday afternoon, losing 2-1 to Bucknell University. This drops the RedHawks to 9-7 on the season (4-1 in the Mid-American Conference) and pushes the Bison to 6-8 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a back-and-forth first quarter neither team was able to get on the board, keeping it a 0-0 game.
- With just under three minutes remaining in the first half Reese Wearren scored on a penalty corner to grab a 1-0 lead for the RedHawks. She was assisted by Madison Workman and Lucia Ventos.
- With four minutes remaining in the third quarter Bucknell tied the score 1-1 on a penalty corner goal.
- Bucknell scored and took the 2-1 lead just over two minutes into the start of the final quarter, which they held through the remainder of the game, taking it 2-1.
UP NEXT: The RedHawks are back in Oxford, Ohio Friday, Oct. 20 to face Central Michigan University at 1 p.m.
