First MAC Loss For RedHawks, 2-1 to Kent State

KENT, Ohio – On Friday afternoon the Miami University field hockey team had their first Mid-American Conference loss, 2-1 to Kent State University. This moves the RedHawks to 9-6 on the season and 4-1 in the MAC. The Golden Flashes move to 4-9 on the season and 3-2 in the MAC.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
UP NEXT: The RedHawks are back on the field Oct.15 at 12 p.m. in Lewisburg, Pa. to take on Bucknell University.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Through the end of the first quarter neither team was able to break the 0-0 score.
- Just over three minutes into the second quarter Kent State scored to grab a 1-0 lead on a penalty stroke goal, which they held through the end of the first half.
- During a penalty corner, Carlie Servis tied the game for the RedHawks at 1-1 with just over a minute into the second half. She was assisted by Paula Peña Martinez.
- Five minutes later the Golden Flashes took back the lead with another goal to make it a 2-1 game through the end of the third.
- Though the RedHawks fought valiantly through the fourth quarter they were not able to overcome Kent State's lead, awarding them the 2-1 victory.
