RedHawks Fall to No. 6 Virginia 2-0

OXFORD, OHIO – On Sunday afternoon, despite some impressive defensive efforts, the Miami University field hockey team fell to No. 6 University of Virginia 2-0. This brings the RedHawks to 8-5 on the season (3-0 in Mid-American Conference) and puts the Cavaliers at 7-4 overall.

UP NEXT: The RedHawks are back in action on Friday, Oct. 6 to face Ohio University at 12 p.m. in Athens, Ohio.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Virginia put the first goal in the net during a penalty corner with just under seven minutes remaining in the first quarter to grab a 1-0 lead.
- Through the end of the first half the Cavaliers held their 1-0 lead.
- With just over two minutes left in the third quarter, goalkeeper Isabelle Perese had a big save on a penalty stroke to keep the RedHawks in the game.
- The game headed into the fourth quarter with the same 1-0 score.
- Just under six minutes into the final quarter the Cavaliers scored on a penalty corner to double their lead 2-0, which they held through the conclusion of the game.
UP NEXT: The RedHawks are back in action on Friday, Oct. 6 to face Ohio University at 12 p.m. in Athens, Ohio.
