ON TAP: The Miami University women's basketball team hosts the University at Buffalo in a crucial Mid-American Conference matchup on Wednesday, Feb. 1. Opening tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. versus a pair of teams that are 3-5 in MAC play and tied for the seventh seed in the conference standings.
HUNGRY LIKE A WOLF: After an outstanding freshman campaign, where she averaged 12.6 points per contest, Â sophomore
Ivy Wolf has taken the next step in her career. Wolf is third in the MAC in scoring (18.8) and eighth in assists (3.6). She has scored at least 20 points in eight games this year and has also led Miami in scoring in nine of the last 10 contests.
MIAMI'S BIG-3: The RedHawks have three of the top-14 scorers in the MAC, highlighted by
Ivy Wolf (18.8, 3rd),
Peyton Scott (14.2, 13th) and
Maddi Cluse (14.1, 14th). Combined, the trio scores 47 of Miami's 69 points per contest.Â
HOME SWEET HOME: Miami is 7-4 at home this season and 1-9 away from Millett Hall. That lone road win was on Jan. 18 at NIU (74-69).
REDHAWKS DOWN CHIPPEWAS: On Saturday,
Peyton Scott scored 16 of her 23 points in the first half as the RedHawks defeated Central Michigan.
Maddi Cluse contributed a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds for the RedHawks.
Ivy Wolf added 16 points and
Amani Freeman put up 12.Â
ABOUT BUFFALO: The Bulls are 8-9 overall and 3-5 in conference play and are coming off a 69-47 loss at Akron on Jan. 28. Buffalo ranks second in the MAC in defense (62.1/game), but are last in scoring (61.7/game). Offensively, the Bulls are led by Zakiyah Winfield (14.6), Re'Shawna Stone (14.4), and Jazmine Young (14.0). Winfield ranks second in the MAC with 10.6 rebounds/game.
SERIES WITH THE BULLS: This will be the 48th meeting between the two schools with Buffalo holding a slight 27-20 all-time advantage. UB has won each of the last 14 contests.
NOW "BOARD"ING: The RedHawks rank just ninth in the MAC in rebounding (35.6 boards/game) but, have out-rebounded five of their last seven opponents, including +9 on the boards in the win at NIU.Â
RICH GETTING RICHER: Helping turn the tide on the rebounding side is sophomore
Katey Richason. In her first 14 games, Richason had a total of 26 rebounds (1.9/game). Since then, the Zionsville, Ind., native has secured 38 boards in the past six games (6.3/game), including 10 at Ball State and a career-best 12 versus Ohio.
GETTING A CLUE: After an up and down freshman season, where
Maddi Cluse averaged 6.5 points per contest, the second-year RedHawk seems to have things figured out in 2022-23. Cluse currently ranks 14th in the MAC with a 14.1 scoring average. She is also fifth in rebounding (7.6). She has seven double-doubles this season after recording just two her freshman season.
MAGICAL MILESTONES: The RedHawks have had several individual moments during the 2022-23 season:

Ivy Wolf scored her 500th career point, the third fastest in program history to do so.Â

Peyton Scott scored her 1,500th career point.

Maddi Cluse recorded the second triple-double in program history, registering 18 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in an 82-56 win over Bradley. The last triple-double for Miami was from Linda Mallender on Dec. 14, 1984.
• Dec. 17 --
Peyton Scott secured her 500th career rebound, becoming just one of three RedHawks in program history to score 1,500 points and record 500 career rebounds.Â
GREAT SCOTT: Senior guard
Peyton Scott has accomplished a ton since arriving in Oxford, all while maintaining a 3.78 grade-point average and majoring in sports leadership and management.
• Scott suffered an ACL tear on March 5, 2022 at Akron and returned to play on Nov. 21, 2022 against Western Kentucky.
• She has scored 1,696 points and ranks fifth all-time on Miami's scoring list and is currently the active leader in MAC career scoring.
• Scott was named to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Preseason Award Watch List.
• Two seasons ago, she scored 30-plus points in five different games, including 39 versus Ball State, a new Millett Hall record. She has surpassed 30-plus points six different times in her career.
• She has scored in double figures 87 times in her career and has surpassed 20 points 31 different times.
• Named second-team All-MAC the past two seasons and was on the MAC All-Freshman team in 2019-20.
• Scott has started 98 of 101 games in her career.
SHOOTING STARS: Miami is having its best season shooting under Coach Hendrix. As a team, Miami is shooting 41.8% from the floor (previous best was 40.3% in 2021-22) and 33.4% from behind the arc (previous best was 29.2% in 2021-22). Miami currently ranks fourth in the MAC as a team in three-point percentage.
POISON IVY: Ivy Wolf has been deadly all season from the free throw line. She currently ranks fifth in the nation, shooting 92.3% (84-91) from the charity stripe. She has never missed more than one free throw in a game this season. Her teammate,
Peyton Scott, is 55th in the nation at 85.2% (75-88) from the line.
