Miami and CMU Set For Saturday Afternoon Showdown at Millett

ON TAP: The Miami University women's basketball team returns home to face the Central Michigan Chippewas on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 1 p.m. The RedHawks are 6-4 at home this season.

HUNGRY LIKE A WOLF: After an outstanding freshman campaign, where she averaged 12.6 points per contest,  sophomore Ivy Wolf has taken the next step in her career. Wolf is third in the MAC in scoring (18.9) and 10th in assists (3.5). She has scored at least 20 points in eight games this year and has also led Miami in scoring each of the last nine contests.

MIAMI'S BIG-3: The RedHawks have three of the top-15 scorers in the MAC, highlighted by Ivy Wolf (18.9, 3rd), Maddi Cluse (14.2, 12th) and Peyton Scott (13.6, 15th). Combined, the trio scores 47 of Miami's 69 points per contest.

MUCH IMPROVEMENT: Miami is one win shy of matching last year's win total (8) and just two wins away from matching last year's conference win total (4).

REDHAWKS FALL AT TOLEDO: On Wednesday, Miami dropped an 82-63 decision to the Toledo Rockets inside Savage Arena. Ivy Wolf led all scorers with 29 points to go along with three rebounds and three steals. Peyton Scott chipped in with 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

ABOUT CENTRAL MICHIGAN: CMU is 4-14 overall and 2-5 in conference play, but is coming off a 69-66 victory over Ohio on Wednesday. Sydney Harris leads the way offensively, averaging 16.8 points per contest for a Chippewas offense that ranks 12th in the MAC in scoring average (62.6).

SERIES WITH THE CHIPPEWAS: This will be the 70th meeting between the two schools with CMU holding a slight 36-33 all-time advantage. CMU has won 16 of the last 19 contest, but the RedHawks most recently downed the Chips 90-77 back on Feb. 12, 2022. In that most recent meeting, four RedHawks scored in double figures, led by Peyton Scott's 24 and Ivy Wolf's 18.

NOW "BOARD"ING: The RedHawks rank just ninth in the MAC in rebounding (35.6 boards/game) but, they have out-rebounded five of their last six opponents, including +9 on the boards in the win at NIU.

RICH GETTING RICHER: Helping turn the tide on the rebounding side is sophomore Katey Richason. In her first 14 games, Richason had a total of 26 rebounds (1.9/game). Since then, the Zionsville, Ind., native has secured 37 boards in the past five games (7.4/game), including 10 at Ball State and a career-best 12 versus Ohio.

GETTING A CLUE: After an up and down freshman season, where Maddi Cluse averaged 6.5 points per contest, the second-year RedHawk seems to have things figured out in 2022-23. Cluse currently ranks 12th in the MAC with a 14.2 scoring average. She is also fifth in rebounding (7.5).

MAGICAL MILESTONES: The RedHawks have had several individual moments during the 2022-23 season:
• Dec. 11 -- Ivy Wolf scored her 500th career point, the third fastest in program history to do so.
• Dec. 16 -- Peyton Scott scored her 1,500th career point.

• Dec. 17 -- Peyton Scott secured her 500th career rebound, becoming just one of three RedHawks in program history to score 1,500 points and record 500 career rebounds.

Miami currently ranks fourth in the MAC as a team in three-point percentage.
