SALZBURG, Austria—Competing in its first European event since 2020, the Miami University senior synchronized skating team sits in fifth place with a score of 65.43 after the short program at the Mozart Cup in Salzburg, Austria.

Miami will round out its stint at the Mozart Cup with Saturday's free skate event, which is scheduled to start at approximately 1 p.m. (ET).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- One of two teams representing the United States at the event, Miami had a clean skate, posting a technical element score of 33.39 and a program component score of 32.04.
- The RedHawks' 65.43 score leads Italy's sixth-place Hot Shivers (60.06) by more than five points and trails Finland's fourth-place Dream Edges (71.08) by more than five points.
- Canada's Nexxice leads the 16-team field with a score of 72.83 heading into Saturday's free skate portion. Also representing the U.S., the Haydenettes sit in second place with a score of 71.57, while Finland's Team Unique rounds out the top three with a score of 71.37.
- The Mozart Cup is part of the Challenger Series Synchronized Skating, which consists of up to five international competitions linked together to provide adequate opportunities for many teams to compete at the international level and earn World Standing Points while also preparing to compete at the ISU Championships. The Mozart Cup's competition field is comprised of 16 teams representing 11 different countries.
