Miami resumes NCHC play this week with a trip to No. 4/3 Denver. The RedHawks come in to the series at 7-11-2 (2-7-1 NCHC) after splitting December home series against then-No. 4 St. Cloud State and non-conference foe Niagara. The Pioneers are 17-5-0 (8-2-0 NCHC) and had a seven-game win streak snapped in a split with Alaska Fairbanks.
Denver leads the all-time series 28-13-3 and owns eight consecutive wins over the RedHawks (including 4-0 and 4-2 decisions in Oxford this past October). The RedHawks enter the weekend looking for their first victory over the Pioneers since Dec. 17, 2020 and first win in Magness Arena since Feb. 22, 2019.
Matthew Barbolini (9-11-20) leads the RedHawks in both goals and assists.
John Waldron has eight goals and
Joe Cassetti has seven for Miami. Goaltender
Ludvig Persson is 7-10-2 between the pipes with a .901 save percentage and 3.21 GAA.
Both games at Magness Arena will be streamed on NCHC.tv, with puck drop set for 9 p.m. ET on Friday, Jan. 13 and 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 14.
