PROVIDENCE, R.I. – On Sunday morning the Miami University field hockey team fell to Brown University 3-2. With the loss, the RedHawks drop to 2-2 on the season, while Brown moves on to 2-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- With about five minutes left in the first quarter Brown scored the first goal of the game.
- The first quarter ended with Brown leading 1-0.
- With 8:46 left in the second quarter Katherine Groff scored the RedHawks first goal, bringing the score to 1-1.
- The first half ended without a change in the 1-1 score. The RedHawks had outshot Brown 11-3.
- Twenty seconds into the third quarter Claudia Negrete Garcia scored, and the RedHawks took a 2-1 lead.
- With just under four minutes left in the fourth quarter, Brown scored during a penalty corner, knotting the score, 2-2.
- At the end of regulation play the score remained 2-2, and the game was headed into overtime.
- Just over five minutes into overtime Brown scored the winning goal.
