
Miami Falls to Ohio in Second Match of the Weekend

ATHENS, Ohio— The RedHawks (5-8) fell in a four-set match to Ohio (8-5), 11-25, 25-23, 19-25, 20-25.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Bobcats were able to pull ahead 12-3 early on. A block assist from Hayden Hicks and Gentry Warrick, followed by back-to-back kills from Ellie Hanson shrunk this lead. The RedHawks would come within five, but Ohio went on to win the set 25-11.
The RedHawks opened with a solo block from Maggie McCrary to take the opening point in what was a gritty second set. The play consisted of back-and-forth action, no team leading by more than three points after Ohio pulled ahead 7-4 at the beginning of the set. Allyson Severance and Hanson each recorded five kills to help the RedHawks secure a 25-23 win.
Miami continued the rhythm they built the set prior, leading 5-2 early after two kills from Brooke Jackson and a service ace from Hanson. The Bobcats would tie the set at 10-10, no team leading by more than two points until Ohio stretched the lead to 19-16. Ohio closed out the set 25-19.
The fourth set was another tight one, Severance had two kills and Lydia Harper recorded a solo block early. Ohio separated themselves after going on a 5-0 run to take a 15-10 lead. Six kills from Hanson would help keep Miami in the set, although the RedHawks would go on to fall 25-20.
