
Miami Loses to Ohio in First Match of the Weekend

ATHENS, Ohio— The RedHawks (5-7) dropped a three-set match to Ohio (7-5), 15-25, 22-25, 12-25.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Bobcats led by five early on at a score of 11-6. Shortly after a service error by Ohio, followed by a block assist from Ellie Hanson and Gentry Warrick closed the lead within three. Ohio was able to fend off this push, winning the set 25-15 win.
The second set consisted of various momentum shifts between each team, the Bobcats leading 6-9 at the start. Miami then went on a 10-3 run with the help of three kills from Maggie McCrary, two kills from Allyson Severance, a solo block by Lydia Harper, and a kill from Harper to take a 16-12 lead. Ohio followed this by going on a run of their own and winning the set 25-22.
Ohio found their rhythm early in the third, pulling ahead 5-0 to start. Ohio would stretch the lead to 9-2, until a kill from Severance and serving ace from Harper helped shrink the lead. Ultimately, Ohio was able to hold on collecting a 25-12 win.

The RedHawks play in their second match against Ohio tomorrow September 24 at 6:30 p.m.
