WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – On Sunday afternoon, the Miami University's women's soccer team (1-2-1) fell to the Purdue University women's soccer team (2-2-0) by a score of 2-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- At 25:15, a Purdue forward raced towards Miami's goal from the left-hand side before shooting at the far post to make it 1-0 Purdue.
- In search of an equalizing goal, the RedHawks had four attempts in the final seven minutes of the first half. In the 40th minute sophomore Jocelin Zimmerer had the ball played to the top of the box but the subsequent shot went wide and the first half concluded with Purdue's lead.
- At 52:42, the Boilermakers scored off a header from a corner kick to extend the lead to 2-0 for the hosts.
- Into the 66th minute, in a situation when Purdue could not clear the ball away from goal, freshman Norah Roush poked it in, curring the deficit, 2-1.
- The RedHawks registered three more shots prior to the end of the match but were not able to convert.
NOTES:
- Roush recorded the first goal of her collegiate career.
- Sophomore Kendall Jameson made her first career appearance.
- There were 21 fouls committed in total, eight by Miami and 13 by Purdue.
- Senior Izzie Vaccari made five saves.
