OXFORD, Ohio—The Miami University volleyball team dropped an exhibition match to visiting Wright State University in four sets Saturday afternoon at Millett Hall.
The RedHawks rallied to capture the first set, 25-23, before Wright State took the next three.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Miami trailed 14-7 in the opening set but came back to go on top 22-21 and eventually edge the Raiders, 25-23.
- In the second set, which was tied 5-5 early on, Wright State pulled away by a score of 25-12.
- The teams were tied at 8-8 in the third set, but WSU stretched its margin to 18-10 and captured the set by a score of 25-17.
- Miami had an early five-point lead in the fourth set and was still up 13-9 when the visitors called timeout. Wright State came back to knot things up at 14-14 and went on to win by a score of 25-20.
- Abby Stratford and Ellie Hanson had 11 kills apiece to lead the RedHawks' attack. Hanson added a match-high 16 digs.
- Hayden Hicks and Gracie Norris each registered 18 assists for Miami.

The RedHawks open the 2022 season next weekend at the Bradley Invitational. Miami faces Western Kentucky on Friday, Aug. 26 at 11 a.m. ET and battles Kansas City at 4 p.m. that day. The RedHawks close the weekend against the hosts at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27.
