RedHawks Compete at NCAA East Prelims, Riano Breaks School Record

Seven members of the Miami track and field team competed at this week's 2022 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field East Preliminary Rounds in Bloomington, Ind.
Carmen Riano led the way for the RedHawks, breaking her own school record in the 3000m steeplechase. Riano crossed the finish line with a time of 9:46.91, taking more than 10 seconds off the previous mark. Her time was the fourth-fastest among the 48 competitors and qualified her for next month's 2022 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Riano also competed in the 5000m, finishing in 16:16.69 for the 23rd-fastest time in the field. Anthony Camerieri ran a 3:46.90 in the first round of the 1500m (the 19th-fastest time in that round) and a 13:57.62 in the 5000m (good for 25th place). Ava Nuttall finished the 10000m in 35:16.55 (ranking 23rd among the field). Anthony Vlatko turned in a 1:50.06 in the first round of the 800m (the 24th-fastest time in that round). Luke Finnegan ran a personal-best 21.02 in the first round of the 200m (the 32nd-best time in that round). Charlie Harders ran a 9:12.39 in the 3000m steeplechase to come in 41st place. Ryan Smith had the 45th-best discus mark at 45.18m.
