
RedHawks Track & Field Conclude 2022 MAC Championship Action

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Miami University track & field teams concluded their time at the Mid-American Conference Championships, putting up solid numbers on day three on Saturday, May 14, at Western Michigan University. The men's team finished in fourth place of five teams, earning a combined score of 120. The women's team came in fifth place of 12 with 72 points.

The Miami track & field teams will vie for placement in the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds of the 2022 NCAA D1 Outdoor Championships. Preliminary competition begins Wednesday, May 25, in Bloomington, Indiana.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Sam Pearl, Jacob Matthews, Anthony Vlatko and Luke Finnegan led the RedHawks to a second place finish in the men's 1600 relay, finishing with a combined time of 3:13.75. The women's 1600 relay team placed third, with Lucca Agate, Abby Suszek, Marta Cepeda Pérez and Faith Baxter coming in at 3:41.19.
- Julian Wagner, Leo Bouldin, Matthews and Finnegan came in fourth in the men's 400 relay with a combined time of 41.72. Alanah Owens, Agate, Baxter and Taylor Manley also grabbed points for Miami in the women's 400 relay.
- The RedHawks dominated the podium for the men's 800 run, with Finley Mclear (1:49.59), Vlatko (1:49.95) and Max Manley (1:50.01) placing first, second and third respectively.
- Carmen Riano (16:34.67) and Ava Nuttall (16:51.18) took the top two spots in the women's 5000 run. Obsaa Feda (14:46.62) came in second in the men's 5000 run, with Anthony Camerieri (14:53.22) in fourth.
- Camerieri (3:47.79) placed second in the men's 1500 run, with Charlie Harders (3:49.19) and Andrew Schroff (3:49.45) landing at fourth and sixth.
- Baxter (54.71) came in third in the women's 400 dash, while Pearl (48.03) took fifth in the men's 400 dash.
- Also earning points for Miami in track events were Eman Alfred (14.49) in the men's 100 hurdles, Finnegan (10.50) and Wagner (10.63) in the men's 100 dash, John Wetula (54.22) and Jacob Ranker (54.51) in the men's 400 hurdles and Pérez (1:00.43) in the women's 400 hurdles.
- In field events, Ryan Smith (50.02m) placed third in the men's discus throw, with Matt Lamb (47.10m) coming in fifth. Taylor Manley (12.37) picked up points in the women's triple jump, with Elise Walker (1.65m) doing the same in the women's high jump.
