3/9/2022 10:01:00 AM | Men's Basketball
OXFORD, Ohio—The Mid-American Conference announced its annual awards Wednesday morning, and Miami University men's basketball junior guard Dae Dae Grant was named to the All-MAC Honorable Mention Team.
Grant, Miami's leading scorer, became the 39th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points and currently ranks 31st all-time with 1,156 points. He also broke onto Miami's career 3-point field goal list, currently ranking ninth with 164.
For the first time since 1999 when Wally Szczerbiak set the single-season scoring record with 775 points, a RedHawk cracked Miami's single-season top-10 scoring list. Grant's 546 points so far this season rank 10th on the chart. He also has moved into eighth on Miami's single-season 3-point field goal list with 69 and his current .850 free-throw percentage would rank seventh on Miami's single-season chart.
He put together 11 20-point scoring efforts this season and led Miami in scoring on 18 occasions. Grant is one of two RedHawk players who have played and started all 31 games this season and is one start away from cracking Miami's single-season top-10.
Grant ranks among MAC statistical leaders in six categories on the season: scoring (17.61, 6th), assist/turnover ratio (2.23, 2nd), free-throw percentage (.850, 3rd), assists (4.10, 6th), made 3-pointers (2.23, 6th) and minutes (32.87, 10th). He ranks among MAC leaders in five categories in conference-only games: scoring (18.45, 6th), free-throw percentage (.842, 4th), made 3-pointers (2.35, 6th), assists (4.00, 6th), assist/turnover ratio (1.82, 7th).
It is Grant's third selection to an All-MAC team, earning third-team honors as a sophomore and All-Freshman Team accolades his first season with the RedHawks.
Miami prepares to take on No. 2 seed Kent State in the Mid-American Conference Tournament quarterfinal on Thursday at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland. Game time will be approximately 4 p.m.
