The bats stayed hot for the RedHawks with Stephen Krause leading the way in his two home run, four RBI performance. William Escala stole three bases and the team totaled eight extra base hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the top of the second Escala led off with a single, then put on a baserunning showcase stealing second and third base. Escala then scored on a sac bunt by Brian Zapp. Blake Buzzeo then doubled to left field, then advanced to third on a wild pitch. Following a JJ Woolwine walk, Beni Brokemond singled driving in Buzzeo and giving the 'Hawks a 2-0 lead.
- In the top of the third Krause homered, extending the lead to three.
- In the top of the sixth, trailing 4-3, Dalton Back led off with a double down the left-field line. Brian Zapp then reached on a fielder's choice, giving the RedHawks runners on first and third. Back then scored on a failed pick-off, tying things up at four.
- In the top of the seventh Nick Neibauer singled. The following at-bat Krause homer for the second time in the game driving in Neibauer and giving the RedHawks a 6-4 lead.
- The Eagles answered in the bottom of the seventh, scoring three runs to take a one-run lead. Buzzeo led off the top of the eighth with a double and then advanced to third on a throwing error. Woolwine then doubled, driving home Buzzeo. Brokemond singled, then Neibauer was hit by a pitch, loading the bases. Krause then singled to right, driving home Woolwine. Escala then singled, driving home Brokemond and giving the RedHawks a 9-7 lead.
- Georgia Southern scored one run in the eighth and two more in the ninth to claim the victory.

- Krause went 3-for-5 with two home runs, four RBI, and two runs scored.
- Woolwine went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a triple, a walk, and a run scored.
- Escala reached base three times with three steals, one run scored, and an RBI.
- Buzzeo went 2-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored.
- Brokemond went 2-for-6 with an RBI and a run scored.
What's Next:
The RedHawks begin conference play as they host Bowling Green University Friday, March 11. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
