RedHawks Face Toledo For Second Time in a Week

ON TAP: The Miami University women's basketball team returns home to face the Toledo Rockets on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at Millett Hall. Opening tip is set for 7 p.m.

ROAD WARRIORS: Wednesday's contest will be Miami's first home game in the month of February. The RedHawks were last home on Jan. 29 versus EMU.

HUNGRY LIKE A WOLF: Over her past three games, freshman Ivy Wolf is averaging 16.3 points, while shooting 45.0% (18-40) from the floor and 41.2% (7-17) from behind the arc. Wolf had 20 points last week at Toledo, her second-best scoring performance of the year.

MOVIN' ON UP: With 16 points at Kent State on Monday, junior guard Peyton Scott moved up to T-13th all-time at Miami with 1,269 career points. She is just 80 points shy of cracking the top-10 in Miami school history.

REDHAWKS FALL AT KENT STATE:  The Miami University women's basketball team dropped an 83-61 decision on Monday evening at Kent State at the MAC Center. Peyton Scott led Miami with 16 points, six rebounds and six assists, while Nila Blackford's 22 points and nine rebounds were best for the Golden Flashes.

TAKE CARE:  In Miami's first 17 games they averaged 19.6 turnovers per contest and had a season-low of 14 turnovers two different times. In the last three games versus Toledo, WMU and Kent State, Miami has committed just 29 total turnovers (9.3/game), establishing season bests in back-to-back games (had 11 at Toledo and 6 at WMU). The backcourt duo of Peyton Scott (5) and Ivy Wolf (2) have committed just seven total turnovers in a combined 197 minutes over the past three contests.

BALANCING ACT: While Peyton Scott (18.8) is getting a majority of the offensive attention, Miami has a total of eight players averaging at least 3.7 points per game this season. Last year, just four RedHawks averaged over 4.0 points per game.

NEW FACES, NEW PLACES: Miami has six additions to the RedHawks in 2021-22 that are contributing numbers to Miami's success. In all, Ivy Wolf, Maddi Cluse, Edyn Battle, Tajah Foster-Walker, Jordan Tuff and Katey Richason are combining for 35.8 points and 18.1 rebounds per game.

ABOUT THE ROCKETS: The Rockets come into Wednesday's game, tops in the MAC with a 17-4 overall and 11-1 conference record. UT allows a MAC-best 60.0 points per contest. Quinesha Lockett leads the way offensively at 17.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per contest.

SERIES WITH TOLEDO: This will be the 71st meeting between the two schools with Toledo holding a 39-31 all-time advantage.

ROUND TWO VERSUS ROCKETS: These two teams competed a week ago on Feb. 2 at UT, with the Rockets capturing a 74-64 victory. Ivy Wolf led the way for the RedHawks with 20 points as Miami outscored Toledo 26-15 in the fourth quarter.

LIKE A FINE WINE: No easy way to put it, but the RedHawks have struggled offensively in the first half this season, averaging 28.6 points in the first 20 minutes of action. As the game goes on, the offense improves. The RedHawks average 38.4 points per game in the second half and have outscored their opponents 412-382 in the fourth quarter.

GREAT SCOTT: Junior guard Peyton Scott has accomplished a ton since arriving in Oxford, all while maintaining a 3.73 grade-point average and majoring in sports leadership and management.
• She has scored 1,269 points and ranks T-13th all-time on Miami's scoring list. She is just 80 points shy of cracking Miami's top-10 scoring list.
• She currently ranks fifth in the MAC in scoring (18.8), 14th in rebounding (6.1), 9th in assists (4.0) and ninth in steals (1.7).
• Has made 45 of her last 48 free throw attempts (93.8%).
• Last season alone, she scored 30-plus points in five different games, including 39 versus Ball State, a new Millett Hall record. She has surpassed 30-plus points six different times in her career.
• She had a stretch last season from Feb. 3-Feb. 13 in which she scored 30-plus points in four straight games, the first RedHawk in school history to accomplish such a feat.
• In her last 46 contests, Scott has more 30 point games (6) then under 10 point games (3).
• She has scored in double figures in 42 of her last 44 contests.

GOING TO BATTLE: The RedHawks have leaned heavily on Edyn Battle lately. After surpassing 10-plus points just once in her first six games, Battle has scored in double figures in 11 of her last 14 contests, including a career-high 20 points in the win over Western Michigan.
