HUNGRY LIKE A WOLF: After averaging just over 10 points per contest in Miami's first 20 games of the year, freshman
Ivy Wolf has averaged 16.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists over her last seven games. She is coming off a career-high 32 points versus BGSU on Saturday.
FALCONS CLIP REDHAWKS: Â Despite a career-high 32 points from freshman
Ivy Wolf, Miami fell 81-76 to Bowling Green last Saturday.
Peyton Scott added 19 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Amani Freeman, who had not played since mid-December, returned to record nine points and five rebounds in 15 minutes of action.
BALANCING ACT: While
Peyton Scott (19.7) is getting a majority of the offensive attention, Miami has a total of eight players averaging at least 3.6 points per game this season. Last year, just four RedHawks averaged over 4.0 points per game.
NEW FACES, NEW PLACES: Miami has seven additions to the RedHawks in 2021-22 that are contributing numbers to Miami's success. In all,
Ivy Wolf,
Maddi Cluse,
Edyn Battle,
Tajah Foster-Walker,
Jordan Tuff,
Sydney Watkins and
Katey Richason are combining for 36.2 points and 18.1 rebounds per game. Wolf, Battle and Cluse, rank second through fourth on the team in scoring.
ABOUT OHIO: The Bobcats are 14-12 on the year and 8-9 in MAC play, but have lost their last two contests. Cece Hooks leads the team at 23.0 points per game, while Erica Johnson's 16.4 points per contest ranks second for the Bobcats.
SERIES WITH THE BOBCATS: This will be the 97th meeting between the two schools with Miami holding a 58-38 all-time advantage. Ohio has won five of the last six, and Miami last won in Athens back on Jan. 30, 2019 (67-61). Miami last swept a season series with the Bobcats during the 2017-18 campaign.
ROUND TWO WITH OU: Edyn Battle poured in 18 points and handed out a career-best five assists to help Miami edge Ohio 63-60 back on Jan. 17.
Katie Davidson added season-highs of 17 points and nine rebounds for the RedHawks, while
Peyton Scott chipped in 15 points and eight rebounds. Davidson had 14 points after intermission, with Scott scoring 13 in the second half.Â
LIKE A FINE WINE: As the game goes on the RedHawks seem to improve. This year, the RedHawks average 29.4 points per game in the first half. They average 18.2 points per game in the third quarter and 19.7 in the fourth.Â
GREAT SCOTT: Junior guard
Peyton Scott has accomplished a ton since arriving in Oxford, all while maintaining a 3.73 grade-point average and majoring in sports leadership and management.
• She has scored 1,416 points and ranks ninth all-time on Miami's scoring list.Â
• She currently ranks fourth in the MAC in scoring (19.7), fourth in field goal percentage (46.0%), 13th in rebounding (6.1), 11th in assists (3.8) and eighth in steals (1.8).
• Has made 80 of her last 89 free throw attempts (89.9%) -- ranks third in the MAC at 85.7% for the year.
• Last season alone, she scored 30-plus points in five different games, including 39 versus Ball State, a new Millett Hall record. She has surpassed 30-plus points six different times in her career.
• She had a stretch last season from Feb. 3-Feb. 13, 2021 in which she scored 30-plus points in four straight games, the first RedHawk in school history to accomplish such a feat.
• She has scored in double figures in 49 of her last 51 contests.
NOTHING BUT NET: The RedHawks enter Wednesday's contest as the second-best free throw shooting team in the conference at 73.2%.
Ivy Wolf, while technically not listed in the MAC stats due to a lack of attempts, her 86.8% from the line would rank second in the MAC. Scott ranks third (85.6%) and
Katie Davidson is 12th (76.5%).
Edyn Battle is 14th (73.6%). Miami's biggest downfall is the lack of attempts. The RedHawks have attempted 318 free throws compared to 562 for its opponents this year.
GOING TO BATTLE: The RedHawks have leaned heavily on
Edyn Battle lately. After surpassing 10-plus points just once in her first six games, Battle has scored in double figures in 15 of her last 21 contests, including a career-high 20 points in the win over Western Michigan.
