COLUMBIA, S.C. – The RedHawks fell to Virginia Tech Saturday morning on a run rule, 8-0. Miami struggled both in the field and at the plate. Through five innings, the RedHawks gave up 11 hits and committed two errors. Offensively, Miami was only managed four hits and left a total of six runners on base.
How it Happened:
- Brianna Pratt got the start for the RedHawks but was replaced after just two and half innings after giving up six runs.
- Taylor Turner came in to relieve Pratt in the bottom of the third but couldn't help turn things around. Turner gave up five hits that resulted in two more runs for Virginia Tech.
- Karli Spaid's hitting streak extends to eight games after 1-for-3 from the plate against Hokies.
- The RedHawks fell behind 3-0 in the bottom of the first inning and struggled to get back in the game.
- The Hokies went on to post at least one run in the following three innings, widening the gap for Miami.
- In the final inning of play, Miami left two batters on base before the game ended in an 8-0 run rule loss.
