Dalonte Brown Named to Ohio All-Star Team

COLUMBUS, Ohio--The College Basketball All-Star Game & Celebrity Extravaganza announced today that Dalonte Brown, a forward for the Miami University men's basketball team, has committed to play on the Ohio All-Star Team. The Ohio All-Stars will play dynamic players from HBCU colleges across the U.S. in the All-Star Game.

The College Basketball All-Star Game & Celebrity Extravaganza will take place April 20-24, 2022. This is a five-day celebration of educational, multicultural and entertainment festivities that complement the college all-star game and a celebrity game featuring nationally-renowned entertainers and local personalities.

"It is an honor to be chosen to play for the Ohio All-Stars as part of The College Basketball All-Star game," said Brown. "It means a lot to me and I feel so blessed. I thank my teammates and coaches, who have helped me get to this point in my career and have helped me become the player I am today. I am excited to participate in this event!"

No Miami men's basketball player has appeared in more career games or made more career starts than Brown, who broke the records for both in December. Brown has played in 140 career games, topping the previous record of 126. His 133 career starts eclipses Ron Harper's 118 starts, a record that stood for more than three decades. The 37th player in program history to record 1,000 career points, Brown has moved into Miami's top 10 for career scoring with 1,498 points to rank seventh all-time and is on pace to rank among the top six in Miami history. He owns 805 career rebounds to rank sixth all-time and is poised to crack the RedHawks' top five in the category. Brown also ranks among Miami's career top 10 in 3-point field goals and is closing in on the career field goal top 10 list as well.

"Dalonte is definitely deserving of this honor, and I'm happy for him to have this opportunity to play once the season is over," said Miami University men's basketball head coach Jack Owens. "He works hard, and these are the recognitions you hope seniors get who have worked hard in your program, who have stayed loyal, and who continue to get better every year."

The all-star game will be played on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio with an 8 p.m. tipoff. There will be a full slate of educational, fashion and entertainment festivities, for all ages, at Nationwide Arena preceding basketball.

"Having Dalonte as part of the Ohio All-Stars is a slam dunk for this event. He brings a passion and fire for the game, and is a high-scorer on the court," said John Pace, President and CEO, Classic For Columbus. "But this event is more than just fun and games. This event has value because it allows the entire community an opportunity to come together in unity and harmony to cheer on NBA hopefuls from HBCUs and Ohio's traditional universities. Youths will benefit from seeing an arena filled with accomplished athletes and celebrities who serve as positive role models and mentors."
