NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Miami softball program dropped a pair of games to IUPUI and Tennessee State on Saturday, moving their record to 0-3 to begin the season. Miami opened the day with a 5-3 loss to IUPUI and dropped game two 4-3 to Tennessee State.
How it Happened (IUPUI):
- Brianna Pratt started on the mound for the RedHawks pitching 4.2 innings, striking out six while allowing all five (only two earned) of IUPUI's runs.
- Miami jumped out to an early two-run lead in the bottom of the first inning behind a two-run RBI single from Adriana Barlow.
- The Jaguars evened the score at the top of the second, only to have the RedHawks answer with one run at the bottom of the third after an error by the Jaguars' third baseman.
- Neither team would score again after IUPUI posted three runs in the top of the fourth inning, ending the game in a 5-3 loss for the RedHawks.
Notes:
How it Happened (Tennessee State):
- In her second appearance of the season, Courtney Vierstra pitched four innings, recording 10 total strikeouts, but conceded all four (one earned) of the Tigers' runs.
- Lily Wilmot finished 2-for-3 with two RBI, one of those being a home run in the top of the second to give Miami an early lead.
- The RedHawks gave up all four runs in the third inning, a deficit that would prove to be too much.
- Miami pulled within one run behind RBI singles from Maggie Murphy in the fourth and Lily Wilmot in the fifth.
- Ultimately the gap would prove to be too great as the RedHawks dropped the game by a score of 4-3.

Miami looks to notch their first win of the season on Sunday morning, as they take on Bradley for the second time this weekend. Opening pitch is slated for 11:30 a.m. Following the contest with Bradley, the RedHawks play IUPUI.
