Trip to Eastern Michigan Up Next For RedHawks

ON TAP: The Miami University women's basketball team heads to face the Eagles of Eastern Michigan on Wednesday, Feb. 16. Opening tip is slated for 7 p.m. It's the second of three-straight road contests for Miami this week.

HUNGRY LIKE A WOLF: Over her past six games, freshman Ivy Wolf is averaging 14.5 points, while shooting 42.5% (31-73) from the floor and 41.4% (12-29) from behind the arc. Wolf had 20 points back on Feb. 2 versus Toledo, her second 20-point performance of her career and had a career-high eight rebounds in the win over CMU.

MOVIN' ON UP: With 19 points versus BGSU on Monday, junior guard Peyton Scott  is now just 12 points shy of cracking the top-10 in Miami school history. She enters Wednesday's contest with 1,337 career points.

REDHAWKS FALL AT BGSU ON MONDAY:  Peyton Scott had 19 points and Edyn Battle added 18 as the Miami University women's basketball team dropped a 94-61 decision to Bowling Green on Monday night at the Stroh Center. Miami was just 1-of-13 from behind the arc, while the Falcons connected on 11-of-20 from deep.

OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION:  In the win over the Chippewas last week the RedHawks established a new season-high with 90 points. Miami was 33-of-66 from the floor (second-best shooting performance of the year) and was 17-of-22 from the free throw line (season-bests in makes and attempts). Miami finished the contest with 46 points in the paint and 22 fast break points, both third-best this year.

BALANCING ACT: While Peyton Scott (19.3) is getting a majority of the offensive attention, Miami has a total of eight players averaging at least 3.9 points per game this season. Last year, just four RedHawks averaged over 4.0 points per game.

NEW FACES, NEW PLACES: Miami has seven additions to the RedHawks in 2021-22 that are contributing numbers to Miami's success. In all, Ivy Wolf, Maddi Cluse, Edyn Battle, Tajah Foster-Walker, Jordan Tuff, Sydney Watkins and Katey Richason are combining for 36.8 points and 18.8 rebounds per game.

ABOUT EASTERN MICHIGAN: The Eagles are 5-16 on the year and 2-12 in MAC play, which includes five-straight losses. Areanna Combs is tops on the team, averaging 18.8 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.

SERIES WITH THE EAGLES: This will be the 63rd meeting between the two schools with Miami holding a 41-21 all-time advantage despite the Eagles winning the past three contests. Miami's last win on the road in this series came back on Jan. 24, 2018 (73-69).

ROUND TWO WITH EMU: Despite a 32-point effort from junior Peyton Scott and a career day by Tajah Foster Walker,  Miami dropped an 80-69 decision to Eastern Michigan back on Jan. 29. Scott added a game-high 10 rebounds for the RedHawks.

LIKE A FINE WINE: As the game goes on the RedHawks seem to improve. This year, the RedHawks average 29.6 points per game in the first half. They average 18.2 points per game in the third quarter and 19.9 in the fourth.

GREAT SCOTT: Junior guard Peyton Scott has accomplished a ton since arriving in Oxford, all while maintaining a 3.73 grade-point average and majoring in sports leadership and management.
• She has scored 1,337 points and ranks 11th all-time on Miami's scoring list. She is just 12 points shy of cracking Miami's top-10 scoring list.
• She currently ranks fifth in the MAC in scoring (19.3), fifth in field goal percentage (45.6%), 17th in rebounding (6.0), 10th in assists (3.9) and 10th in steals (1.7).
• Has made 61 of her last 68 free throw attempts (89.7%) -- ranks third in the MAC at 85.2% for the year.
• Last season alone, she scored 30-plus points in five different games, including 39 versus Ball State, a new Millett Hall record. She has surpassed 30-plus points six different times in her career.
• She had a stretch last season from Feb. 3-Feb. 13, 2021 in which she scored 30-plus points in four straight games, the first RedHawk in school history to accomplish such a feat.
• In her last 49 contests, Scott has more 30 point games (6) then under 10 point games (3).
• She has scored in double figures in 45 of her last 47 contests.

GOING TO BATTLE: The RedHawks have leaned heavily on Edyn Battle lately. After surpassing 10-plus points just once in her first six games, Battle has scored in double figures in 13 of her last 17 contests, including a career-high 20 points in the win over Western Michigan.
