12/7/2022 2:52:00 PM | Hockey
After a weekend off, Miami Hockey resumes NCHC play when No. 4/4 St. Cloud State comes to town. The RedHawks enter the series at 5-9-2 (1-6-1 NCHC) and last played on Nov. 25-26 (losses to then-No. 16 Michigan State). The Huskies are 13-3-0 (6-2-0) and have won five straight, including scoring 13 times in a sweep of North Dakota last week.
Both games in Oxford will be streamed on NCHC.tv, with puck drop set for 7:05 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9 and 5:05 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10. Friday's game will air on WKBV 1490 AM (Richmond, Ind.), while Saturday's game will be broadcast on WMOH 1450 AM The Ticket (Hamilton, Ohio). Greg Waddell and Drew Davis will have the call both nights.
SCSU leads the all-time series 29-18-4 and has won 13 of the last 14 meetings. The Huskies won both games between the teams last season (Jan. 21-22, 2022 in Minnesota). St. Cloud State has only played one series at Cady Arena since 2019, a weekend split in February 2021. Miami is 9-8-3 all-time vs. SCSU at home.
Matthew Barbolini (6-8-14) leads the RedHawks in both goals and assists and is averaging a point per appearance. Goaltender Ludvig Persson is 5-8-2 between the pipes with a .905 save percentage and 3.06 GAA.
Head coach Chris Bergeron and sophomore defenseman Alex Murray met with the media this week to preview the matchup against the Huskies.
