ON TAP: The Miami University women's basketball team heads south for a pair of contests. On Tuesday, Dec. 20 the RedHawks square-off with San Diego State University and a day later compete with West Virginia. Both contests begin at noon on Massimino Court.

HUNGRY LIKE A WOLF: After an outstanding freshman campaign, where she averaged 12.6 points per contest,  sophomore Ivy Wolf has taken the next step in her career. Wolf is third in the MAC in scoring (18.4) and seventh in assists (3.6). She has scored at least 15 points in nine of 10 games this season.

MAGICAL MILESTONES: This past week was filled with milestones for the Red and White:
• On Dec. 11, Ivy Wolf scored her 500th career point, the third fastest in program history to do so.
• On Dec. 16, Peyton Scott scored her 1,500th career point and on Dec. 17 Scott secured her 500th career rebound. She is just one of three RedHawks to score 1,500 points and record 500 career rebounds.
• To top it all off, Maddi Cluse recorded the second triple-double in program history, registering 18 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in an 82-56 win over Bradley on Dec. 16. The last triple-double for Miami was from Linda Mallender on Dec. 14, 1984.

WEEKEND RECAP: The RedHawks went 1-1 this past week, picking up an 82-56 win over Bradley on Friday and dropping an 82-74 decision to Oakland. Miami shot a season-high 54% versus BU and had 27 assists on 34 made baskets. It was the first time Miami recorded 25 assists in a contest since Jan. 27, 2010 versus Northern Illinois. Miami's hot shooting almost overshadowed Maddi Cluse's historic night. The sophomore became just the second RedHawk in program history to record a triple-double, finishing with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Joining Cluse in double figures were Ivy Wolf (21), Sierra Morrow (12) and Peyton Scott (11).

Less than 24 hours later, Miami trailed Oakland 60-52 entering the fourth quarter and got as close as 70-69, but never get over the hump in an 82-74 loss to the Golden Grizzlies. Peyton Scott had a season-high 21 points, Sydney Watkins recorded a career-high five steals, Sierra Morrow had a career-best three blocks and Maddi Cluse had a career-high 13 rebounds.

WELCOME BACK: Peyton Scott suffered a knee injury in the last game of the 2021-22 campaign and made her season debut on Nov. 21 against the Lady Toppers of WKU. The first-team preseason All-MAC honoree has been playing managed minutes to begin the year, but against Oakland the senior played a season-high 37 minutes. Scott is currently averaging 12.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 21.9 minutes per game. On the year she has 26 assists and just four turnovers.

GETTING A CLUE: After an up and down freshman season, where Maddi Cluse averaged 6.5 points per contest, the second-year RedHawk seems to have things figured out in 2022-23. Cluse currently ranks fourth in the MAC with a 17.6 scoring average. She is also third in rebounding (8.6) and third in shooting percentage (.508). She has scored in double figures in nine of 10 games this season.

ABOUT SAN DIEGO STATE: SDSU is 9-2 on the season, led by a stingy defense that allows just 51.7 points/game. Offensively, Mercedes Staples (11.8), Sophia Ramos (10.8) and Asia Avinger (10.2) all average double figures.

ABOUT WEST VIRGINIA: The Mountaineers are 7-2 on the season and are also led by an incredible defense that surrenders just 50.8 points/contest. Madison Smith leads the way with 14.1 points a game and is part of a unit that has committed just 127 turnovers this season, while forcing 216.

SERIES WITH OPPONENTS: SDSU is 1-0 all-time in this series, last competing during the 2013-14 season and the RedHawks and Mountaineers will square-off for the first time.

GREAT SCOTT: Senior guard Peyton Scott has accomplished a ton since arriving in Oxford, all while maintaining a 3.78 grade-point average and majoring in sports leadership and management.
• She has scored 1,525 points and ranks eighth all-time on Miami's scoring list.
• Scott was named to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Preseason Award Watch List.
• Two seasons ago, she scored 30-plus points in five different games, including 39 versus Ball State, a new Millett Hall record. She has surpassed 30-plus points six different times in her career.
• She has scored in double figures 76 times in her career and has surpassed 20 points 28 different times.
• Named second-team All-MAC the past two seasons and was on the MAC All-Freshman team in 2019-20.
• Scott has started 87 of 90 games in her career.

MORE FROM MORROW: After being shutout in her debut against Xavier, Sierra Morrow has scored in double-figures in six of her last eight games. Her defensive presence is also starting to take shape, recording seven blocks in her last three games.
