MOVIN' ON UP: Junior guard Peyton Scott currently ranks ninth all-time in Miami scoring with 1,441 career points. Up next on the list is Cindi Merrill (1,497).

HUNGRY LIKE A WOLF: After averaging just over 10 points per contest in Miami's first 20 games of  the 2021-22 season, Ivy Wolf averaged 16.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists over her last nine games to close out the year.

MALONE RECAP: Maddi Cluse and Ivy Wolf combined to score 40 points, helping the Miami University women's basketball team to a 79-68 exhibition victory over Malone on Tuesday evening at Millett Hall. Alexis Hutchinson led Malone with 27 points. Cluse was tops for the RedHawks with 21 points and Ivy added 19. Amani Freeman finished the contest with 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Wolf added eight assists.

NEW FACES, NEW PLACES: Miami has three new additions from last season on the roster. Riley Neal is the lone freshman and is joined by transfers Sierra Morrow (Bradley) and Jessie Dai (Odessa College). Neal averaged 21.6 points and 10 rebounds per game last season as a senior at North Oldham High School in Prospect, Ky., while Morrow averaged 6.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and was 70th in the nation with 1.6 blocks per contest. Dai averaged 11.3 points and 4.5 rebounds last season at Odessa College.

WHAT'S BACK?: Four of Miami's top six scorers return for 2022-23, including Peyton Scott (19.2 ppg.), Ivy Wolf (12.6 ppg.), Maddi Cluse (6.5 ppg.) and Amani Freeman (4.8 ppg.). In all, Miami returns 61% of its scoring, 54% of its rebounding and 63% of its assists.

ABOUT XAVIER: Xavier finished last season at 9-21 overall and 4-16 in conference play. The Musketeers lost their top two scorers from a year ago, but still return Aanaya Harris, who averaged 9.2 points and 3.3 rebounds per game a season ago. Transfer Nila Blackford (Kent State) joined Xavier this offseason after averaging 12.4 points and 9.0 rebounds per contest during her career with the Golden Flashes.

SERIES WITH THE MUSKETEERS: This will be the 19th meeting between the two schools with Miami holding a 11-7 all-time advantage. Miami captured a 77-73 victory last season at Xavier on the back of Peyton Scott, who posted 28 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

GREAT SCOTT: Junior guard Peyton Scott has accomplished a ton since arriving in Oxford, all while maintaining a 3.78 grade-point average and majoring in sports leadership and management.
• She has scored 1,441 points and ranks ninth all-time on Miami's scoring list.
• Scott was named to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Preseason Award Watch List.
• Two seasons ago, she scored 30-plus points in five different games, including 39 versus Ball State, a new Millett Hall record. She has surpassed 30-plus points six different times in her career.
• She has scored in double figures in 50 of her last 53 contests.
• Named second-team All-MAC the past two seasons and was on the MAC All-Freshman team in 2019-20.
• She has started 83 straight contests for the Red and White.

GET A CLUSE: In her freshman year, Maddi Cluse had some ups and downs. She scored in double figures nine different times, including a career-best 17 points versus Buffalo. She also had 12 points and 10 rebounds at Illinois and closed the season with 12 points at Ohio and 10 points at Akron.

GIVE HER A HAND: Senior Amani Freeman missed 17 games last season with a hand injury, but is completely healthy entering the season. Last year she opened with 10 points and four rebounds at Valpo and added nine points and four blocks at Purdue in 24 minutes of action before exiting with the hand injury. The senior returned late in the season to score nine points and five rebounds against BGSU.
