Miami Hockey heads out on the road this week to face No. 19/19 North Dakota. The RedHawks are 4-6-2 (0-5-1 NCHC) after a 1-1 tie and a 2-1 loss vs. Colorado College last weekend and are looking for their first conference victory of the season. The Fighting Hawks come in at 4-5-2 (1-2-1 NCHC) after getting swept at home by then-No. 2 Denver.
Both games in Grand Forks will be streamed on NCHC.tv, with puck drop set for 8:07 p.m. ET on Friday, Nov. 18 and 7:07 p.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 19. Friday's game will air on WKBV 1490 AM (Richmond, Ind.), while Saturday's game will be broadcast on both WKBV and WMOH 1450 AM The Ticket (Hamilton, Ohio). Greg Waddell will have the call both nights.
North Dakota leads the all-time series against Miami 22-7-4. The teams faced off for the first time in 1999 in Milwaukee and played a total of three times before the formation of the NCHC in 2013. Miami is looking for its first win in the series since Nov. 10, 2018 (0-8-1 since) and first win at North Dakota since Jan. 3, 2017.
Matthew Barbolini (4-6-10) is averaging a point per appearance to lead the RedHawks in scoring. Joe Cassetti (5-3-8) has a team-high five goals. Goaltender Ludvig Persson is 4-6-2 between the pipes with a .918 save percentage and 2.55 GAA. Four different Miami freshmen have lit the lamp already this year, as the RedHawks' first-year players have combined to make 78 appearances and produce 17 points through the first 12 games of the season.
Head coach Chris Bergeron and freshman defenseman Axel Kumlin met with the media this week to preview the matchup against the Fighting Hawks.
