OXFORD, Ohio – Maddi Cluse and
Ivy Wolf combined to score 40 points, helping the Miami University women's basketball team to a 79-68 exhibition victory over Malone on Tuesday evening at Millett Hall. Alexis Hutchinson led Malone with 27 points.
Cluse was tops for the RedHawks with 21 points and Ivy added 19.
Amani Freeman finished the contest with 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Wolf added eight assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Cluse scored nine of her team-high 21 points in the first quarter, helping the RedHawks to a 17-13 lead after 10 minutes of action.
- Wolf added 10 points in the second quarter, including a pair of three-pointers as the RedHawks went to the locker room with a 39-35 advantage.
- Malone scored the first four points of the second half to knot the score at 39 before a 9-2 Miami run, capped by a pair of free throws from Clare Chambers, extended Miami advantage, 48-41. Miami led 60-54 after three quarters of play.
- The RedHawks outscored the Pioneers 19-14 in the fourth quarter to claim a 79-68 victory.
