Miami Held To 1-1 Draw At Kent State

KENT, Ohio – On Sunday afternoon, the Miami University's women's soccer team (6-3-4; 2-1-3 Mid-American Conference) tied Kent State University (3-6-4; 3-1-2 MAC) with a 1-1 scoreline.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: 
  • 20 minutes into the match-up, Kent State opened the scoring with a free kick from outside of the penalty box, making it 1-0 for the hosts.
  • At the 37th minute mark, from 35 yards out, junior Camber Hayes attempted to send a free kick to the bottom left corner but the Kent State goalkeeper recorded a save.
  • In the 67th minute, Hayes delivered a corner that glided over the heads of two RedHawks before falling for freshman Norah Roush whose close-range attempt leveled the game, 1-1.
  • Entering the final minutes of the match, Hayes whipped in a right-sided corner kick towards the far post. Sophomore Makenna Morrison attempted a header but ultimately was fruitless.
 
NOTES:
  • Roush has scored three goals in thirteen appearances for the RedHawks.
  • Sophomore Mercedes Schroer made her 25th career start for Miami.
  • Miami took a total of 11 corners, almost three times as many as Kent State's four.

The RedHawks will return home for a matchup against Western Michigan University on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 4 p.m.
