Miami Shuts Out Canisius to Complete Sweep

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Ludvig Persson recorded the fourth shutout of his career as Miami blanked Canisius 2-0 to finish off a road sweep Saturday afternoon. Persson made 25 saves, several of the highlight-reel variety down the stretch, to keep the Golden Griffins (2-4-0) at bay. Brothers Ryan Savage and Red Savage each collected a goal for the RedHawks (4-1-1), who improved to 8-0-0 all-time against Canisius.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • 6:38 1st (Miami 1-0) | Miami was dominant on its first power play of the game, creating the opening goal of the contest. Matthew Barbolini used his skate to tip a Red Savage pass toward his own stick, eventually carrying the puck behind the goal and setting up Ryan Savage on the doorstep. Although Ryan Savage's first point-blank shot was saved, he immediately jammed home the rebound to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage.
  • 19:19 3rd (Miami 2-0) | After a flurry of incredible saves by Persson in an extra-attacker situation for Canisius preserved the slim Miami lead, Red Savage secured the win for the RedHawks with an uncontested empty-net goal in the final minute to make it 2-0.
