RedHawks Head North to Face Rockets on Wednesday

ON TAP: The Miami University women's basketball team heads to Toledo for the first of three-straight road contest. Wednesday's game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

NEW YEAR, NEW RESULTS: The RedHawks are 6-11 on the year, already surpassing last year's win total (went 4-20 last season). Miami is 2-6 in conference play after going 3-17 a year ago.

ROAD WARRIORS: Wednesday's matchup is the start of a rough road streak. Miami plays six of its next eight contests on the road.

GREAT SCOTT: Peyton Scott averaged 26.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists over the week in three conference games. Scott opened the week with back-to-back 23-point efforts versus Ball State and Central Michigan and wrapped up the week with a season-high 32 points and 10 rebounds versus the Eagles. The junior shot 50.9% from the field for the week and was 19-of-21 from the free throw line.

EAGLES CLIP REDHAWKS, 80-69:  Despite a 32-point effort from junior Peyton Scott and a career day by Tajah Foster Walker, the Miami University women's basketball team dropped an 80-69 decision to Eastern Michigan last Saturday afternoon at Millett Hall. Scott added a game-high 10 rebounds for the RedHawks, while Foster-Walker had a career-high nine points and five blocks.

BALANCING ACT: While Peyton Scott (19.1) is getting a majority of the offensive attention, Miami has a total of eight players averaging at least 4.1 points per game this season. Last year, just four RedHawks averaged over 4.0 points per game.

NEW FACES, NEW PLACES: Miami has six additions to the RedHawks in 2021-22 that are contributing numbers to Miami's success. In all, Ivy Wolf, Maddi Cluse, Edyn Battle, Tajah Foster-Walker, Jordan Tuff and Katey Richason are combining for 32.4 points and 17.2 rebounds per game.

ABOUT TOLEDO: The Rockets come into Saturday's game, tops in the MAC with a 15-4 overall and 9-1 conference record. UT allows a MAC-best 59.3 points per contest. Quinesha Lockett leads the way offensively at 17.7 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest.

SERIES WITH THE ROCKETS: This will be the 70th meeting between the two schools with Toledo holding a 38-31 all-time advantage. Miami won 62-60 a year ago in Savage Arena and have won the last five contests, dating back to Feb. 7, 2018.

LIKE A FINE WINE: No easy way to put it, but the RedHawks have struggled offensively in the first half this season, averaging 28.9 points in the first 20 minutes of action. As the game goes on, the offense improves. The RedHawks average 38.6 points per game in the second half and have outscored their opponents 349-327 in the fourth quarter.

15-FOOT GIMMIE: Who wouldn't want a 15-foot gimmie putt in a round of golf? The backcourt trio of Peyton Scott, Edyn Battle and Ivy Wolf are 47-of-52 (.904) from the free throw line over the past six games. Scott is 31-of-33 (.939), Battle is 13-of-16 (.813) and Wolf is a perfect 3-of-3 from the charity stripe.

PEY"TON" : Junior guard Peyton Scott has accomplished a TON since arriving in Oxford, all while maintaining a 3.73 grade-point average and majoring in sports leadership and management.
• She scored 1,219 points and ranks 17th all-time on Miami's scoring list. She is just 130 points shy of cracking Miami's top-10 scoring list.
• She currently ranks fifth in the MAC in scoring (19.1), 15th in rebounding (6.3), 11th in assists (4.1) and sixth in steals (1.9).
• Has made 34 of her last 36 free throw attempts
• Last season alone, she scored 30-plus points in five different games, including 39 versus Ball State, a new Millett Hall record. She has surpassed 30-plus points six different times in her career.
• She had a stretch last season from Feb. 3-Feb. 13 in which she scored 30-plus points in four straight games, the first RedHawk in school history to accomplish such a feat.
• In her last 46 contests, Scott has more 30 point games (6) then under 10 point games (3).
• She has scored in double figures in 39 of her last 41 contests.

GOING TO BATTLE: The RedHawks have leaned heavily on Edyn Battle lately. After surpassing 10-plus points just once in her first six games, Battle has scored in double figures in eight of her last 11 contests.
