Miami Upends EMU With Late Goal, 2-1

YPSILANTI, Mich. – In an exciting contest, the Miami University women's soccer team (5-2-3) scored with three minutes to play to down the Eastern Michigan Eagles (1-6-2) at Scicluna Field on Sunday afternoon by a score of 2-1.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:  
  • Eastern Michigan was first to score in the first half (2:08) but the RedHawks' Kristina DeMarco, drew the tie at the 28-minute mark. The score was 1-1 heading into halftime for Miami.
  • Miami and Eastern Michigan kept up the intensity throughout the second half of the game, Miami put up 10 shots in the second half with five on-goal.
  • DeMarco scored her second goal of the contest with three minutes to play, for the game-winning goal.
Notes:
  • Kylee Beinecke assisted in DeMarco's first-half goal for Miami, making it the freshman's first assist of her career.
  • Izzie Vaccari had four saves in the RedHawks win.
  • Miami pitched 16 shots with seven on-goal against Eastern Michigan.
