Miami Explodes in the First Half Against Akron in 3-0 Win

AKRON, Ohio –  With an explosive first half, the Miami University women's soccer team (6-2-3) won against Akron University (2-9-0) at Jackson Soccer Field on Thursday evening. The win is Miami's fifth straight.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:  
  • In the first half, Julia Hoffmann set the pace in the first two minutes of the game; she was assisted by Haley Anspach. Putting Miami up, 1-0.
  • At 13:38, Miami's Kristina DeMarco rang in another goal with an assist from Emily Sexton. The RedHawks continued to extend the lead to 2-0.
  • The RedHawks continued its fast start as Makenna Morrison scored unassisted at the 29-minute mark for Miami's third goal of the first half., Miami led 3-0 after 45 minutes of action.
  • In the second half, Miami held Akron scoreless. Finishing the match 3-0 for the win.
NOTES:
  • Izzie Vaccari had two saves in the first half of the RedHawks win, adding onto her sixth clean sheet on the year.
  • Miami outshot Akron 12 shots (seven on-goal) to seven shots (two on-goal).
